Nintendo DSi Lite
Nintendo unveils the new portable video game console, the DSi, equipped with a 3.25-inch LCD display and 300,000-pixel digital camera. Launched in Japan on the 1st of Novemebr the new Nintendo DSi will be available to gamers in Europe in the Spring of 2009.
"We want to change the DS from something that's in every household to something that's for every person" said Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata.
Nintendo DSi Lite Display
The DSi display is 3.25 inches, which is bigger than original DS Lite at only 3 inches. The DSi will be using the existing TFT type display.
Nintendo DSi Lite Size
The DSi is a little longer and deeper than the original DS . The exact measures of the DSi are 137mm x 74.9mm x 18.9 whereas the DS is 133mm x 73.9mm x 24.5mm.
Nintendo DSi Weight
At 214 grams the DSi is marginally lighter than the DS Lite which weighs in at 218 grams
Nintendo DSi Battery Life
Taking account of screen brightness and sound volume you can expect upto 3 hours and 14 hours on the DSi , whilst the original DS will give you 5 hours to 19 hours of game play.
On the plus side, the DSi Lite only takes 2hrs 30 mins to recharge, whereas the DS takes you 3hrs.
Nintendo DSi Compatibility
Unfortunately you will still need the original DS Lite to play you Gameboy advanced games as the DSi no longer supports the legacy format. Obviously you not be able to play and DSi Lite specific titles on the DS Lite.
Nintendo DSi Connections
Nintendo has packed a 3-megapixel camera on the exterior of the case, with another lower-resolution camera on the interior hinge.

The DSi Lite will launch in Japan on 1 November 2008 for ¥18,900 (£100). International releases will follow in 2009.
Downloadble Software to customise your Dsi
Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata says: "To make it truly ‘your own DS’, you can download and store new software through DSi Shop. This is similar to the Wii Shop Channel mechanism. With these functionalities, DSi owners will be able to download the software they would like to enjoy and carry around with them on their own DSi. "
Nintendo will start distributing the SDI browser free of charge. The DSi Browser is an Internet browser, co-developed by Opera and Nintendo and comprehensively tuned exclusively for Nintendo DSi. This tuning made the browser faster, and now that it can be incorporated into the device, the utility aspect has been significantly enhanced. Its also reported that these improvements have achieved faster Wi-Fi communications.
There are also rumors of a second software to be downloaded free of charge through the DSi Shop. Moving Notepade would enable users to create hand-written memos. These can alo include sound recordings!
